The index aligns hog contracts with localized corn and soymeal cash prices to create “crush” values which closely track gross margins in pork production. The first Index tracks feed rations containing standard ratios of soymeal and corn to finish a weaned pig. The second Index analyzes the impact of integrating the maximum level of DDGS in the ration.
These two indices, when used together, provide insight into the economics of integrating DDGS in the feed mix, as well as assessing a highly detailed margin per head. Each index is offered for the previous 6 months, and projects ahead for 6 months for the following producing States:
